A: That's right! The Lunar Chinese New Year marks the start of a brand new year for the Chinese.

According to the Chinese zodiac cycle, 2013 is the Year of the Snake. This year, the first day of the Lunar New Year falls on the 10th of February, which means that the annual Chinese New Year is coming in a few weeks time! Are you looking forward to the celebrations held at our school?

Here is a series of songs to kick you into the festive mood! Have fun listening to them!

恭喜恭喜 / 打锣打鼓

迎春花 / 大地回春

财神到 / 齐唱新年好

Stressed? Tired? Sad? Restless?

Hello my dear students!

How has school been for you so far? I do hope you're enjoying the learning process and most importantly, soaking yourself in the school atmosphere. For those who are feeling a little tired, restless, stressed or even a little down at times. fret not. You are not alone. It's more than all right to feel this way once in a while. After all, who doesn't?

What you can do when you are feeling this way, is to take a breather, go for a short walk, do some of your favourite activities (e.g. reading, dancing, playing soccer, etc) and get some fresh air. You'll realize that really, this is quite a beautiful world that we live in, and there's nothing we cannot achieve if we put our heart and mind to it!

Here's one of my favourite childhood song that I listen to when I feel a little sad or overwhelmed. Hope you love it as much as I do :)

Hola 2013!

Welcome to HWS Friends of Music!

2013 marks the start of many things - A brand new term, a new opportunity to achieve our dreams, a new chance to make things right and most importantly, the beginning of our music blog :)

Let me tell you, my dear students, that you are extremely lucky to have Music as a subject in this era. Music, during my primary school days, was nothing compared to what you are exposed to right now. The interesting syllabus, the variety of instruments, the endless repertoire of songs, and not to mention, the dedicated music teachers that you have.

Are you feeling even more excited for music lessons now? Here's a piece of good news - We are in the midst of coming up with even more music activities just for you. Stay updated through this music blog, Friends of Music!

On an ending note, here's a music quote that I personally love -

'Music speaks what cannot be expressed, soothes the mind and give it rest, heals the heart and makes it whole, flows from heaven to the soul'.

P.S. What do you understand from this quote? Do leave a comment. I'd like to hear your thoughts!

Wishing you all the best in this term and enjoy each day :) Stay healthy and grow in wisdom and knowledge. Till the next post!
