我们都已经长大, 好多梦正在飞

Dear boys and girls

How have you been? It's the start of a brand new term and I hope all of you have had a good start so far. To calm your tangled nerves, here's a song (红蜻蜓) that was sung on stage by your teachers this morning.

I remember my music teachers teaching me this song way back in primary school and we actually performed it on stage during an assembly. It was wonderful singing together as a class! Try singing it together with your classmates. You'll be surprised at how terrific this song will sound. :)

Let's heal the world together.

Dear boys and girls

We will be having a sing-along during the pre-assembly period on Tuesday. Take a look at the meaningful video and try to understand the meaning of the song. The lyrics are below if you need to refer to it. :)

HEAL THE WORLD

There's a place in your heart
And I know that it is love
And this place could be much
Brighter than tomorrow
And if you really try
You'll find there's no need to cry
In this place you'll feel
There's no hurt or sorrow
There are ways to get there
If you care enough for the living
Make a little space, make a better place

CHORUS:
Heal the world
Make it a better place
For you and for me and the entire human race
There are people dying
If you care enough for the living
Make a better place for
You and for me

If you want to know why
There's a love that cannot lie
Love is strong
It only cares for joyful giving
If we try we shall see
In this bliss we cannot feel
Fear or dread
We stop existing and start living
Then it feels that always
Love's enough for us growing
Make a better world, make a better world

CHORUS:
Heal the world
Make it a better place
For you and for me and the entire human race.
There are people dying
If you care enough for the living
Make a better place for
You and for me

And the dream we were conceived in
Will reveal a joyful face
And the world we once believed in
Will shine again in grace
Then why do we keep strangling life
Wound this earth, crucify it's soul
Though it's plain to see, this world is heavenly
Be God's glow

We could fly so high
Let our spirits never die
In my heart I feel
You are all my brothers
Create a world with no fear
Together we'll cry happy tears
See the nations turn
Their swords into plowshares
We could really get there
If you cared enough for the living
Make a little space to make a better place

CHORUS (x3):
Heal the world
Make it a better place
For you and for me and the entire human race
There are people dying
If you care enough for the living
Make a better place for
You and for me

There are people dying
If you care enough for the living
Make a better place
For you and for me
There are people dying
If you care enough for the living
Make a better place
For you and for me

You and for me / Make a better place
You and for me / Make a better place
You and for me / Make a better place
You and for me / Heal the world we live in
You and for me / Save it for our children
You and for me / Heal the world we live in
You and for me / Save it for our children
You and for me / Heal the world we live in
You and for me / Save it for our children
You and for me / Heal the world we live in
You and for me / Save it for our children

Will You Stand with Me?

Dear students

Did all of you enjoy the recess activities that were planned for you over the past three days?

I hope that through the assembly skit, stall activities and porridge rationing, all of you have understood what Total Defence Day is all about. Other than the fun, we hope that all of you will realize it is the duty of each and every Singaporean to defend his/her country. Will you stand with me? :)

For those who participated in the 'karaoke' activity at the World Map Area, kudos to your courage. Two thumbs up for you! Here are the songs that were aired. Have fun listening and singing to them (again)!

Stressed? Tired? Sad? Restless?

Hello my dear students!

How has school been for you so far? I do hope you're enjoying the learning process and most importantly, soaking yourself in the school atmosphere. For those who are feeling a little tired, restless, stressed or even a little down at times. fret not. You are not alone. It's more than all right to feel this way once in a while. After all, who doesn't?

What you can do when you are feeling this way, is to take a breather, go for a short walk, do some of your favourite activities (e.g. reading, dancing, playing soccer, etc) and get some fresh air. You'll realize that really, this is quite a beautiful world that we live in, and there's nothing we cannot achieve if we put our heart and mind to it!

Here's one of my favourite childhood song that I listen to when I feel a little sad or overwhelmed. Hope you love it as much as I do :)

Hola 2013!

Welcome to HWS Friends of Music!

2013 marks the start of many things - A brand new term, a new opportunity to achieve our dreams, a new chance to make things right and most importantly, the beginning of our music blog :)

Let me tell you, my dear students, that you are extremely lucky to have Music as a subject in this era. Music, during my primary school days, was nothing compared to what you are exposed to right now. The interesting syllabus, the variety of instruments, the endless repertoire of songs, and not to mention, the dedicated music teachers that you have.

Are you feeling even more excited for music lessons now? Here's a piece of good news - We are in the midst of coming up with even more music activities just for you. Stay updated through this music blog, Friends of Music!

On an ending note, here's a music quote that I personally love -

'Music speaks what cannot be expressed, soothes the mind and give it rest, heals the heart and makes it whole, flows from heaven to the soul'.

P.S. What do you understand from this quote? Do leave a comment. I'd like to hear your thoughts!

Wishing you all the best in this term and enjoy each day :) Stay healthy and grow in wisdom and knowledge. Till the next post!
